Every death that results from infants and toddlers coming to harm through the cords of window and door blinds is surely one too many. In recent years despite press articles and broadcast media coverage highlighting the dangers, this issue, Sunshade Blinds Ltd believe more needs to be done to publicise the issue and improve awareness by all involved in specifying and manufacturing solar control blinds to not only educate the market especially parents and child minders about the hazard blinds cords present.

For this reason Sunshade Blinds Ltd, manufacturers of cordless childsafe integral sealed unit blinds are embarking on a high profile social media and web campaign that we hope will prevent further fatalities as well as get the law changed to ban blinds that use cords.

At the time of writing this (February 17th 2010), we have seen this past week two more fatalities from very young children coming into contact with the cords of window and door blinds. This was also a further incident last year that also flagged up the problem in the national media.

It is the belief of the directors of Sunshade Blinds that legislation should now be enacted to ban the use of Blinds with cords that present such a hazard.

”If you’re thinking of buying new blinds, look for a design which doesn’t have cords or chains.”
